Amora Collection Press Release

DURKAN DEBUTS THE AMORA COLLECTION AT BDNY 2015

Casual Sophisticated Patterns Display An Artistic Hand

NEW YORK, NY (November 8, 2015)– Durkan, the hospitality brand of Mohawk Group, debuts the Amora Collection at Boutique Design New York (BDNY) in space 548. Designed in collaboration with Virginia Langley, Amora is a flexible collection of patterns available using Durkan’s sophisticated precision dye injected (PDI) technology or Definity precision sculpted process. The Amora Collection, inspired by the love of a contemporary interpretation of classical elements, re-creates favorite shapes and objects into bold new styles that are dynamic in both stature and scale.  Held annually in New York City, BDNY is a leading trade fair for the hospitality and leisure design industry.

“BDNY is an exciting time for us to preview our wide range of collections to our hospitality customers,” said Mark Page, Durkan senior director of color and design. “We can really emphasize our design capabilities by showing customers how manufacturing techniques can be used to change the look and feel of a pattern, which is key to matching the right pattern with the right application.”

Product Description

The Amora Collection, drawn and sketched by Virginia Langley with a casual sophistication of freestyle linear work, creates a more artistic touch to each design. Organic forms, such as various stone and sand patterns, are infused and overlaid giving a harmonious and tranquil blend to accommodate a diverse range of hospitality spaces – from formal to casual, nouveau classic or ultra contemporary. For maximum flexibility, Amora’s bold patterns are available using Durkan’s PDI technology or its Definity precision sculpted manufacturing process, which replicates the durability and look of Axminster as it has never been done before. Definity produces textural effects and stunning large-scale patterns more economically than Axminster and with less manufacturing time. In addition, the collection’s durable backing options are customizable to meet the needs of any hospitality application – from frequented lobbies to quiet hallways. Focused on delivering a comprehensive flooring solutions offering, Durkan’s Amora Collection coordinates with Mohawk Group hard surfaces and Daltile’s ceramic offerings.

As part of the Mohawk Group, Durkan’s sustainability mission is an ecological imperative and transparency is the keystone of the company’s initiatives. As a result, the Amora Collection has a Declare label, which serves as an ingredients label listing all the materials in the product. This allows Durkan to work with customers and other leaders in the building industry to strive for greater transparency and healthier choices. Amora’s overall manufacturing process uses less water and energy and the collection is 100 percent recyclable at the end of its useful life.  The Amora Collection is Red List free.
